Webinar – Recycling of Li-ion batteries in Denmark
19. Jun 2019 kl. 10:00 - 11:00

Battery recycling is key to a successful electrification of our society. Today, more than 500,000 tons of Li-ion batteries are produced globally each year and this number is expected to grow many-fold in the coming years. Recycling is necessary in order to ensure key metals like cobalt, nickel and lithium, and to obtain a low carbon footprint. Today, successful recycling is often not implemented and when it is, only the expensive metal cobalt is extracted. Successful recycling and reuse of metals like cobalt, nickel and lithium is not easy and require new technologies, incentives and standardization.
This webinar is the first in a series of events focusing on battery collection, waste sorting, 2nd use and reuse of battery materials in a Danish context. The scope of the webinar is to invite relevant parties, introduce the challenges ahead and discuss the most important topics that we should address in future events.
The agenda is:
- Battery recycling in a Danish context by Kristian Oluf Sylvester-Hvid from Danish Technological Institute
- Current strategy regarding Danish recycling of batteries by TBD
- QnA and possibility to vote for the most interesting subjects for future events.
During the presentation you can send questions, which will be answered in the last part of the webinar.
